Make it fast. Make it high-tech. Make it inviting. Make it last. That's the challenge Intuit Canada delivered when hiring Clark Builders and Manasc Isaac Architects Ltd to transform a farmer's field into the headquarters for its booming software business, which includes such frontrunners as Quicken and Quickbooks. Just six months after that site was selected, Intuit began moving into a fully wired, amenity-filled, sustainable building that stands as testimony to what's possible when a focused team resolves to make miracles occur. More than a software development site, more than a call centre, the complex is a creativity percolator designed to sustain and enhance the health of both staff and the environment. The building features many amenities including a commercial kitchen, gym, covered parkade, and billiards lounge.

"The whole project was all about having the right people. People with the right attitude, able to think outside the box. Clark Builders stepped up to the plate for what some competitors termed an unrealistic construction task, and soon proved a wise choice. The design was still in progress so we didn't even know how the building would look. But one call to Clark to say we got the site, and the next day they moved in, without even a letter of intent or contract. That told us we'd got the right team. And they did that throughout."
