We love the communities in which we build. Their support is key to Clark Builders’ success, and in return we are committed to being an active part of the major centres and regions that keep us alive.

We take a pro-active approach to our corporate responsibility. Each year, the head office champions a worthy cause that our team can relate to and engage in through creative initiatives and service opportunities. In the Capital Region, Clark Builders’ charity of choice for 2009 is E4C. A diverse human services agency with a proven track record for serving our community, E4C lends a helping hand to the region with a variety of services including children’s school lunches, affordable and supportive housing and education programs.

Our Calgary office hosts an annual charity golf tournament that each year brings in tremendous proceeds for charitable causes throughout the region. Proceeds from our 7th annual tournament being held in June will be donated to KidSport Calgary, a foundation that raises funds to overcome the financial obstacles preventing many young people from participating in sports. In a short six years, through your support, we have raised more than $300,000 for charities like the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, the Calgary Urban Project Society, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Southern Alberta.

In addition to these initiatives, all offices support the communities we serve through frequent donations and sponsorships, both cash and in-kind.

Giving back is an integral part of who we are.

Safety

Safety is an attitude, a frame of mind, an awareness of what is happening all day, every day.

Workplace safety takes top priority at Clark Builders, and the proof is in our performance. Convinced that each employee is entitled to work under the safest possible conditions on every job, we foster a culture where working safely is an expectation, not a request. As a result, our safety record far exceeds industry standards, earning a preferential WCB rating and reduced insurance costs. Those savings, of course, we pass along to clients whenever we price a project.

There's no doubt a culture of safety earns benefits, reducing down time and compensation costs. In addition, attention to safety minimizes pain and suffering for the people working with us, and for their families. That, in the end, is what matters most.

Sustainable Development

Responsible and dependable, Clark Builders has been proving the merits of green building practice and offers versatile sustainable and innovative solutions. Partnering with the project design team, the Clark Builders team has the skill and expertise to create exceptional environmentally-responsible projects. Our team continues to be an invaluable member of many Integrated Design Process (IDP) sessions, and is a member of Canada Green Building Council, with representation on the local Alberta Board. This experience with continuous training initiatives such as IDP lends itself directly into Sustainable Development projects under well known environmental ratings systems such as LEED® Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Our in-house Sustainable Innovation Department and many LEED® accredited professionals contribute substantial value and expertise for the client, architect and construction team.
