Cornerstone Counselling Lead Sponsor, Paddling for Compassion
Clark Builders founder Andy Clark was quick to see the potential
when plans surfaced to launch a new fundraiser for Cornerstone Counselling,
capitalizing on Edmonton's much-loved North Saskatchewan River.
A member of the faith-based counselling centre's Board of Directors,
he set wheels in motion for Clark Builders to donate $10,000 in
seed money. Several months and many donors later, Paddling for Compassion
raised $46,000 in its first run down the North Saskatchewan from
Devon to Edmonton, quickly earning repeat status.
We've been lead sponsor ever since, and our commitment continues
in support of this year's event on September 16, 2006. In just five
years, the number of paddlers has doubled to 200; last year alone,
they raised over $65,000. All donations support Cornerstone's Compassion
Fund, which subsidizes counselling fees for clients who require
financial assistance.
