Habitat for Humanity

"Clark Builders stepped right up and stood the house up for us, which was very helpful because we were in a tight spot in terms of time."

Habitat for Humanity - Edmonton, 2002

Seizing the moment, Clark volunteers committed to making this the best project yet for Habitat, which creates affordable homes in partnership with donors and low-income families. Partner families earn the right to own those homes by committing to a $600 down payment, 400 hours of sweat equity and an interest-free mortgage.

"Clark Builders stepped right up to the plate and took over the entire building of the home," recalls Habitat ReStore Manager Stu Tutt, who was acting executive director while construction progressed. With support from sponsors such as Home Depot, Gateway Rotary and Lions Club of Edmonton, he adds, "We provided the materials and they put the house together using their own volunteers. They had total commitment to standing that house up, right to completion."

Opportunity: Habitat for Humanity Edmonton has set its sights on increasing its annual quota by two homes a year, building as many as 10 homes in 2004. Interested in helping? Contact Executive Director Daryl Sexmith at 479-3566, e-mail habitat@edmonton.hfh.org.
