NAIT graduate Nicole Langlois was happy enough in her work as site project coordinator with another company, but a classmate's tales about the good life at Clark Builders convinced her to trade teams. Drawn by the promise of an excellent work environment, she was also impressed by the fact that Clark Builders' clients keep coming back. "If somebody has a lot of repeat business, that has got to be for a good reason." Benefits and pay are competitive here, she says, but equally important is satisfying work in a company she admires, coupled with the ability to balance life outside the job. "There's definitely overtime. You expect that in construction. But not so much that you can't go home to your family and have a free weekend out of town."

For me, money's not everything. It's more about having satisfying work, but still being able to have a life outside the job.
