Edmonton Integrated Process and Transfer Facility

Project Info

  • Contract: Design/Build
  • Location: Edmonton, AB
  • Status: Complete

If the words massive and efficient were to be combined, it would be to describe the City of Edmonton's Integrated and Process Transfer Facility. Since implementing a curbside recycling program in 1988, the City of Edmonton has been on the leading edge of responsible waste management and thinking ingenuitively, the project team has incorporated these two elements fluidly to fulfill a need in the Edmonton region.

Comprising 190,000 sq.ft. of building footprint, the site includes work areas for the process and transfer of roughly 450,000 tons of waste and recyclable material each year.  Replacing and enhancing the city's aging Cloverbar landfill, incoming household and commercial waste will now be directed through a three phase process, a tipping floor, pre-process area and refuse derived facility.
