Business Development

Rounding up business for Clark Builders is this group's task-and that's fruitful work, thanks to the contractor's excellent reputation. It's also varied work, due to the wide range of projects tackled by this uniquely diversified builder. To work as one of Clark Builders' business developers, you must have experience working in the trenches. That's one way Clark differs from your average general contractor, says Business Development Manager Tim James. "We know what nut connects to what bolt, we can predict how much time a job will take, we can suggest better and less expensive approaches. We listen carefully first, and then we can speak with some tried and true knowledge." That said, he adds, "What really sets us apart is that we care about our people. The company's reputation is phenomenal, and I think a lot of that is due to really good relationships."

Estimator

"Clark Builders' projects are done on time, on budget," notes Chief Estimator Rob Boyko. This team keeps that reputation intact by providing accurate, timely prediction of each project's cost. Our estimators are responsible for conceptual estimating and budgeting, which requires a firm understanding of the industry, close attention to detail and a relationship of trust with all others who may be on the project team. You must be able to conceptualize the project, liaise with colleagues and subtrades to confirm the likely cost of each component, then produce a reasonable estimate based on those findings. Internal relationships with Business Development and Project Management teams are a key part of the mix, particularly because a significant percentage of Clark Builders projects are construction management or design/build.
