Project Info

  • Client: City of Edmonton
  • Sq Ft: 347,500
  • Location: Edmonton, AB
  • Status: Complete

Constructed to divert nearly 40% of Edmonton's waste from landfills, the city's composting facility consists of three buildings and related structures: an aeration hall, dewatering facility, and tipping building.

The aeration hall, commanding 284,000 sq.ft. of space is a Behlen metal building comprised of stainless steel. Effective in a caustic environment, the building's stress skin structure's walls support the building's roof and loads.

Comprised of three smaller structures totaling 77,000 sq.ft., the dewatering facility supports various collateral loads including over 60,000 lbs. of ductwork and overhead crane ways.

A 55,800 sq.ft. tipping building is used for unloading and sorting materials.
