Residents of Yellowknife and surrounding communities will be excited when their new fieldhouse opens in summer 2010. Providing sport access year-round, the two soccer pitches and accompanying three-lane walking/running track will extend the community’s opportunities for both activity and entertainment with seating for 500. Creating space for all types of play is a large children’s play area with soft surfacing and in-floor heating for comfort. Completing the 68,000 sq.ft. structure is a second-level multi-purpose area which will create new space for the Air Cadets. The facility, located next to the city’s multiplex, will utilize excess heat from the multiplex’s arenas.
