Summer Labourers

The summer positions will be from May-August.

Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas.
Erect/install and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites.
Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt. Assist tradespersons such as carpenters, and cement finishers in construction activities.
Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel.
Assist demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean, and pile salvaged materials.
Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment.
Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed.
Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumps.
Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants and remove other hazardous materials.
Direct traffic at or near construction sites.

Skills:

The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time. Manual dexterity, balance for working on scaffolding. To solve arithmetic problems quickly and accurately. The ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Get along well with others and client service interaction skills.

CBR Tool Attendant

Competition: 156 Location: Edmonton, AB

The Tool Attendant is responsible for the inspection, cleaning, repairing, coordinating third party repairs and warehousing of all CB Resources rental equipment. This position will require mostly bench work/repairs of smaller hand tools. The Tool Attendant is required to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and may be required to travel to site on occasion. The Tool Attendant monitors inventory as well as tool trends/repairs and reports them to the Warehouse Supervisor.

The Tool Attendant position reports directly to the Manager, CB Resources with a dotted line relationship to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Skills:

Inspect all tools to ensure they are in good working condition.

Tags all returned tools with a red tag.
Tags all rental ready equipment with a green tag after it has been checked over.
Stock and organize all parts, keeping parts inventory to a minimum.
Clean all tools and put away in proper storage area/location.
Perform minor tool repairs as necessary.
Send out tools for major repairs as necessary.
Organize and maintain cleanliness of tool crib.
Assist other warehouse staff with picking orders, receiving returns and maintain accurate and neat paperwork.
Communicate with Purchaser on problem tools or trends.
Organize a safe and clean working area.
Perform additional job related assignments as directed by supervisor.
Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures.

Training/Education:

Industrial Superintendent

This role will be based in Northern Alberta or Saskatchewan and will work on a fly-in/fly-out basis.

Provide overall on-site administrative and technical management on Industrial construction project sites. Responsible and authoritative for all site activities regarding the efficient and safe production for all aspects and phases of the project including but not limited to manpower management and leadership, trade coordination, safety, construction schedule and quality.

Skills:

Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential

Metal Building Systems Erector

Competition: 169 Location: Fort McMurray, AB

Metal Building System Erectors work on steel framed metal buildings generally referred to as pre-engineered buildings

They erect pre-engineered buildings and sometimes perform reconstructive work on existing structures.

In general, Metal Building System Erectors:

Read blueprints and specification to lay out the work
Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes and other hoisting equipment
Align and bolt steel units in place
Erect structural and architectural metal components for buildings, and other structures
Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move materials
Attach cables from a crane and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios
Assemble and erect pre=fabricated metal structures
Install ornamental and other structural metal work such as curtain walls and meal cladding products
Dismantle structures and equipment when required

Skills:

Successful Metal Building System Erectors enjoy developing their expertise by doing precise work in a broad range of industries and locations. They enjoy the outdoors and often like travelling and working with different crews.

Carpenters

Build concrete forms, scaffolding, bridges, trestles, tunnels, shelters, towers and other structures.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.

Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.

Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.

Build foundations and other concrete formed structures, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems

Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware.

Maintain, repair and renovate commercial buildings and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, parkades, institutional buildings and other establishments.

Maintain a daily log of tasks and hazard assessment cards.

Supervise apprentices and other construction workers.
