Clark Builders Recognized as one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada for a Third Year in a Row

For the third consecutive year, Clark Builders has been recognized on the prestigious "50 Best Employers in Canada" list. Organizations are selected for this award primarily based on confidential survey measurements of employee level of engagement, or what Aon Hewitt refers to as the "Say, Stay, and Strive" Factor.

Two hundred sixty-one Canadian Companies, representing over 112, 000 employees and executives, participated in the 2012 awards. Review of entries and measurement of confidential Employee Engagement surveys are conducted by Aon/Hewitt in partnership with The Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine, The Queen's University School of Business, and the Queen's Centre for Business Venturing.

Clark Builders Named Alberta Contractor of the Year

Clark Builders has been awarded Alberta Contractor of the Year Award in the category of greater than $100 Million annual revenue.

This is the first year for the Contractor Awards by Merit Contractors Association and Alberta Venture. Companies were judged in four different categories and various criteria including safety programs, environmental practices, staff developtment opportunities and the diversity of their building projects.

Andy Clark named Alberta Chamber of Resources Resource Person of the Year

The ACR Resource Person of the Year is a leader who exemplifies the best of Canadian industry, representing the qualities that make Alberta's resource development companies some of the most entrepreneurial and forward thinking organizations in the world.

Building the company literally from the ground up Andy Clark found opportunity when he headed out west in the late '60's. Much like what the founders of the Alberta Chamber of resources had done more than three decades before he turned to the remote mining country.

After paying his dues by working on a variety of worksites and setting the baseline for the performance centered way he'd conduct himself professionally, he struck out on his own in 1974 by starting up Clark Builders in Yellowknife.

Neither modesty or affability are requirements for success, but they are the qualities that inspire likeability. Andy would be the first to credit the people around him, those who rose and continue to rise with him having sustained and expanded a winning formula for over 36 years. Andy discovered and applied that winning formula and the company's character and values are nowhere better reflected than in his own.

Habitat for Humanity Commends Clark Builders

Snow accumulation on flat roofs has been an unusally large problem for businesses around the city this winter. Habitat for Humanity's ReStore North on the north side of the city was one of the many businesses whose roof began to have problems after the heavy snow continued to accumulate. With the help of Clark Builders the roof was kept from collapsing after 32 teleposts were quickly located and installed. The ReStore is a major part of the Habitat program, accepting donations of tools and building materials to be used on building sites for affordable homes to serve the families.

"If it was not for your quick response, the roof of our ReStore North would have collapsed due to the weight of the excessive snow. Pulling you staff from all your build sites and sending them to erect teleposts in our ReStore was nothing less than an act of selflessness."

In January, Paul Verhesen President of Clark Builders was named President of the Edmonton Construction Association of 2011. In this role Paul will represent the Edmonton Constructions Associations' views to local, provincial, and national audiences.

The Clark Builders team is pleased to announce that we have been named on the list of 50 Best Employers in Canada for 2011. Paul Verhesen, President of Clark Builders comments, "I'm often reminded by people I meet with outside Clark Builders that we have a lot going for us as a company. We are recognized for the quality work we do, our collaborative approach, our ability to be innovative and manage risk, and the integrity of our people. I politely remind them that our success begins and ends with our people." He adds that while recognition is great, it's what each individual at Clark Builders does well today that really defines team success and that can't be taken for granted.

Clark Builders Named Official Builder of the 2010 Grey Cup Festival

Clark Builders is pleased to be named “Official Builder of the 2010 Grey Cup Festival”.

This naming comes at the start of the CFL season and Clark Builders is pleased to be working alongside the Edmonton Eskimos and the City of Edmonton on the expansion of stadium grounds at Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre.

Developments at the stadium grounds are comprehensive and include a full-scale rejuvenation of the existing Commonwealth Sports and Fitness Centre to include a swimming facility, indoor fieldhouse with running track as well as upgrades to existing fitness areas. Further renovation/expansion continues throughout the facility which will house new team and visitor locker rooms, corporate offices and convertible meeting room/hosting venues.

The festival runs in Edmonton from November 25-28, 2010.
