Employee Spotlight – Scott Lidstone
Meet Scott Lidstone, a Superintendent part of our Vancouver team. Scott is another longstanding employee, having worked for Clark Builders over the past nine years and across all current office locations. Scott relocated to Vancouver one year ago and is working on the 855 Granville Street mixed-use development project. The adjustment was an easy one considering his love for the mountains & ocean and the availability to partake in some of his favourite activities: skiing, golfing, and fishing.
A day in Scott’s life involves a morning team huddle and site walk around, followed by coordination and review of daily project activities, mitigating any risks, and lots of planning and interaction with his teams. He is thankful for all the mentors who trained him and is following in their footsteps, passing the knowledge on to his teams while also learning new skills from them. The Clark Builders core value that resonates most with Scott is having a ‘Can Do Attitude’ — he says there is nothing the people at Clark Builders can’t accomplish!
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is working with all the interesting people in our industry. We come from all different backgrounds, and there are a million stories out there. I also enjoy the funny antics that happen from time to time. We get lots done and have a good time doing it.
Fill in the blank: I once met….
Andy Clark at a school in Red Deer. He brought pizza for the team and blocked my telehandler in with his truck. I had no idea who he was, and told him to move, and that I had work to do. He introduced himself and we had a good laugh about it. Andy was a class act about the whole thing.
What is your favorite restaurant in Yellowknife?
Worked in a lot of places for CB but I recommend trying Bullock’s Bistro. The food there is top notch and it’s a short walk to the Woodyard Brewery. Both have a great atmosphere and the food is local and so delicious. The two places make for a pretty fun and tasty Saturday.
