Clark Builders completed the second phase of the original Banff Elementary School replacement, which included constructing a two-storey addition to Phase 1 and demolition of the old school under Parks Canada and LEED requirements.
The iconic school built in the town of Banff will cater to approximately 550 K-8 students. Designed by GEC Architecture, the school offers unique features, including exposed wood trusses in the gymnasium, glulam beams and other extensive wood features that give the school its character. The addition included community spaces, including rooms for an Out of School Care Program, a large gymnasium, and additional storage.
Since Phase II tied into the existing school, which was fully occupied during construction, the project team phased the project to ensure minimal disruption and noise. Clark Builders’ Sustainable Construction team was highly involved in ensuring this school achieved LEED Gold certification.
