Project Description

The Edmonton Centennial Garage, a LEED® Silver project, consisted of the site development and construction of a new Edmonton Transit System 250-bus storage and maintenance facility as well as an administration building. Included in the project was a solar wall for heating, a specialized low-volume bus wash and undercarriage wash system using recycled water, an eco-friendly controlled lighting system, and an innovative ventilation system that moves fumes away from occupied areas for employee safety and comfort. The maintenance area contains 17 hydraulic piston hoist bays, a body shop, tire bay, lube bay, interior wash and steam cleaning bus wash, all capped with open web steel joists and structural steel spanning over 140 ft. The facility also boasts a heated slab with four boilers plus over 40 remote terminal units on the roof, and two 90,000 l underground diesel tanks for easy fueling.
