Clark Builders was contracted to construct the host facility and installation of a 14MW cogeneration power plant in an active campus. The University of Calgary Cogeneration Plant project was an expansion and renovation of the existing Central Heating and Cooling Plant (CHCP) completed in four phases. The project gave the 45-year-old CHCP an updated structure and operation set up. Most important was the incorporation of modern, greener technologies used to generate 75 per cent of the yearly campus power requirements, while also meeting the entire heat demand for the University’s campus throughout the year.
