Edmonton Composting Facility

Edmonton, Alberta

Project Description

The Edmonton Composting Facility project encompassed several essential phases, each designed to serve specific purposes. These phases included the construction of a 284,000 square foot aeration hall, a 77,000 square foot., 60-foot tall dewatering facility, and a 55,811 square foot tipping building. With a focus on durability and functionality, various innovative solutions were implemented throughout the project.

The aeration hall, a vital component of the facility, was engineered as a stainless steel Behlen stress skin building. This innovative construction solution, suggested by Clark Builders, ensures the structure's ability to withstand the corrosive environmental conditions.

The dewatering facility is a pre-engineered metal building composed of three structures. These structures have been strategically designed to support a range of collateral loads, including over 60,000 lbs of ductwork, electrical cable trays, and overhead crane ways.

Lastly, the tipping building was constructed to facilitate the unloading and sorting of waste materials. Its design incorporates features that streamline the process, enabling efficient handling and disposal of various waste products.

Through meticulous attention to detail and the utilization of innovative construction solutions, this project has successfully created a state-of-the-art facility. The facility not only meets the specific needs of its operations but also ensures durability and functionality, setting a new standard of excellence in environmental and waste management construction.
