Clark Builders is extremely honoured to have had a visit from Prasad Panda, Minister of Infrastructure, and Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health, at our Bridgeland Continuing Care facility project.

We have begun construction on the new care centre that will help meet the urgent need in the community to increase access to residential continuing and complex care in the Calgary area. The facility will also relieve pressure on Calgary hospitals and continuing care systems by reducing emergency departments’ demands, inpatient acute care services, and residential continuing care placement.

Designed by FWBA Architects, the Bridgeland Continuing Care Centre will provide a combination of senior day programs and continuing care units. There care centre will cater to about 200 clients.

“Projects like the Bridgeland Riverside Continuing Care Centre protect the livelihoods of tradespeople and others employed in the construction industry. Investments in infrastructure projects now are laying the foundation for the private sector to grow and create thousands of additional good-paying jobs for Albertans, which is crucial to our economic recovery” – Prasad Panda, Minister of Infrastructure.

Approximately half the suites will be on secure floors, with a mixture of adults and seniors with a wide range of care needs from simple to complex. A secure outdoor space will be built into the overall design to meet the needs of those requiring complex care to access the outdoors safely. The facility design will support the residents through patient and family-centered care concepts that include incorporating natural light, pathways and gardens. Consideration will be given to integrating parks and pathways from the centre to the local community in order to ensure easy access to local transit and amenities. There will be a walkout basement that includes a commercial kitchen, loading dock and other support services.

We are now on site and have begun preliminary site activity. Throughout construction, we will follow municipal bylaws concerning construction activity and industry best practices. Measures will be taken to lessen the impact on the surrounding community, such as construction noise, dust and construction traffic. During all phases of construction, strict safety protocols will be in place to ensure construction workers and the community’s safety.
