The MacEwan University Robbins Health Learning Centre is a 5-storey concrete structure housing classrooms, labs, faculty offices and administration spaces. Envisioned as a sustainable and interactive facility, the building is LEED Silver certified and houses the departments of Nursing, Acupuncture, Holistic Medicine, and Therapist Assistants.
With an aggressive schedule with a due date that aligned with the beginning of the new semester, Clark Builders turned to an untraditional and innovative approach. Rather than complete the concrete structure one floor at a time, it was built in three vertical components. In addition, the construction of the concrete structure was overlapped with the building envelope so that finishing work could be done immediately behind that.
