This multi-phase renovation modernized the trading floor environment at BMO First Canadian Place while strengthening the critical infrastructure required to support continuous, high-performance financial operations.
The project included a multi-floor interior renovation accommodating 570 workstations, along with new collaboration and meeting spaces, a cafeteria, and specialty acoustic and raised access floor systems. Extensive upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and audiovisual/IT (AVI) infrastructure were delivered to support real-time trading and evolving workplace requirements.
A significant component of the scope was the Powerhouse and UPS Upgrade, which included the construction of a 6,000 square foot penthouse generating station with new generators, switchgear, transformers, and cooling units. Additional work involved structural and architectural podium modifications, new fuel systems at the B1 level, and multiple electrical feeders routed through podium and bridge pathways to support redundancy and future capacity.
Completed within an active, high-security downtown tower, the project demonstrates expertise in executing complex interior renovations and mission-critical infrastructure upgrades in live operating environments.
